A second monorail line in Moscow can build by 2016

The second monorail line in Moscow can be built on the south-west of the city by 2016, said the deputy mayor Nikolai Lyamov.

“Now we are considering the construction of the monorail from the street Profsoyuznaya to the shopping center “Slavyansky mir” (“The Slavic world”)- he said.

Road length is about 3 km.

“The length is actually small, however, this line will connect the subway to the region” – said Lyamov. Now the issue on the sources of investment for construction is being settled.

Earlier it was reported that the owners of the shopping center “Slavyansky mir” are ready to provide full funding for the construction of the monorail.

Meanwhile, the analysts consider the monorail a “toy” for Moscow: the first line, built in 2004 on the north-east of the capital, cost $ 135 million and it was never paid off.
