In Moscow and the region the speed of mobile Internet was measured
“Sky Link” has best coverage of mobile Internet among cellular operators in Moscow and Moscow region, the highest average speed – Megafon, the maximum speed – Scartel (brand name Yota).
Moscow TelecomDaily tested data service in 3G networks: MTS, MegaFon and Vimpelcom, the network EVDO «Sky Link” and WiMax «Scartel”.
Testing was conducted on the move in a specially equipped car. All settlements with a population of more than 10 thousand people in the suburbs of Moscow were tested.
As of May 2011, the highest average speed of mobile Internet services belongs to the network Megafon (3 Mbps), then followed by MTS (2.1 Mbps), Scartel (1.9 Mbps), Vimpelcom (1.7 Mbps) and Sky Link (0.5 Mbps).
Scartel became the leader of the maximum speed – in its network it is as high as 10 Mbps.
MegaFon has the highest speed of 7 Mbps, Vimpelcom – 5,2 Mbps, MTS – 4,6 Mbps, and Sky Link- 2,7 Mbps.
Data rate, obtained in the course of the study, according to both the average and peak values are more than two times lower than similar values in Saint Petersburg, the analysts of TelecomDaily said.
